"Docking Cleats" |
![]() |
Intrepid has an 8-inch anchor cleat on her bow deck. I now needed something on the stern to tie up to. So, I just cut a block of wood to fit, and attached it temporarily with two stainless screws.
The block is properly bedded in epoxy and wood flour.
On the outside surface of the transom frame you may be able to see the tell tale signs of the strip of fiberglass tape that was added for additional support. I wasn't planning on towing anything, but at the same time I did not want the side to be pulled away from the transom frame when the first big gust of wind came by.
This is a 5-inch galvanized cleat with galvanized bolts clamping it to the mounting block. There is a second cleat mounted to the port stern. These pieces of hardware are bedded in my favorite flexible sealant.
The starboard rear-docking cleat as on the boat in current colors.
