"Transome Knee" |
![]() |
So I modified the transom so that it would accept my outboard, next was to modify it again in a very traditional way: using a transom knee to join the bottom to the transom. I notched a piece out of a 12-inch wide board to fit over the bottom transom frame.
The transom knee is in place. The next step is to glue, putty, and fiberglass the heck out of it.
After the rear deck frame was attached to the transom, a wedge of sorts was placed between the transom knee and the deck frame. I have a similar piece joining the knee to the frame on bulkhead 17.
Everything all fiberglassed together. You might notice that the grain on the transom knee is running all-horizontal. I laid fiberglass over the knee to prevent splitting.
